Joe Lagana has represented the 38th district in the Senate since 2018 and currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Labor Committee. He was previously elected to represent this district in the General Assembly three times and to the Paramus Borough Council, where he became budget chairman and council president.
He has focused his time in office on affordability, access to quality healthcare, public safety, and curbing opioid addiction. The son of Italian immigrants, Joe was a first-generation college graduate before beginning his career as an attorney. A lifelong New Jersey resident, Joe grew up in Bergen County and lives with his family in Paramus, where he volunteers as a softball coach. The Lagana family’s pursuit of the American dream and his New Jersey roots are at the core of his desire to give back through public service. Joe is a loving husband and the proud father to three girls.
