The DLCC Spotlight distinction reflects the importance of Lagana, Swain, and Tully’s race in LD38 in Bergen County. It’s also a reminder that it is a competitive race – one of the most competitive in the state.

Making prescriptions more affordable

We're focused on building for our future by improving local roads and bridges and fixing the Route 17 bottleneck.

“We had been trying for years when the unimaginable happened – my doctor told me I needed a lifesaving abortion,” said Teri, a Bergen County nurse. “I had seen cases like my own in the ER, but then it happened to me. Without that abortion, I wouldn’t have two beautiful children today.”

LD38 Democrats Release New Ads Spotlighting Access to Abortion

We've helped pass a total of 20 tax cuts for working and middle-class families and seniors, including Stay NJ and ANCHOR. The ANCHOR program provides property tax payers with $1,500 rebate checks every year.

Lowering taxes for working families

"Without labor unions, we wouldn't have the eight-hour workday, weekends off, lunch breaks, paid vacation, Social Security, or the minimum wage. Lagana, Swain, and Tully believe that it is essential that we fight for labor unions so that they can continue the fight for working people in New Jersey and across the country."

Lagana, Swain and Tully Celebrate Labor Day

Lisa and Chris are delivering the resources and support that our small businesses need to thrive and add jobs.

Helping local small

Senator Joseph Lagana (D-Paramus), Assemblywoman Lisa Swain (D-Fair Lawn), and Assemblyman Christopher Tully (D-Bergenfield) tapped Reed Elman – a political operative with digital, media, and fundraising experience – as campaign manager for their re-election bids in the 38th Legislative District.

Lagana, Swain, and Tully Hire Elman as Campaign Manager

“The charges laid out in today's indictment against Senator Menendez are alarming. We strongly believe in every American’s right to a fair trial and presumption of innocence, but these allegations leave us with serious concerns over his ability to continue to provide New Jerseyans with the federal representation they deserve. We are calling for the Senator to step down immediately to allow our state and nation to move forward.”

Lagana, Swain & Tully Statement on Indictment of Senator Menendez

Lisa, and Chris will ensure abortion rights remain legal in New Jersey, and will protect women's access to all reproductive health care. We're fighting to ensure young women have access to menstrual products in public schools, restore funding for Planned Parenthood, and expand access to birth control.

Protecting access to women’s health care

We are working to ensure a healthy future for our families by passing laws to reduce levels of lead and working to reduce PFAS in our drinking water.

Protecting our clean

air and water

Assemblywoman Swain also wrote legislation that ensures that New Jersey medical professionals are never punished for providing crucial abortion services in New Jersey and that anyone who comes to the Garden State for reproductive health care can receive it.

“New Jersey taxpayers who work for a New York City company are subjected to unfair double taxation by New York – this bill evens the playing field,” said Senator Lagana. “We’re also creating incentives for New York businesses to open offices in New Jersey closer to the families that make up their workforces.

Lagana, Swain, & Tully join Gov Murphy in Bergen County to Fight Back Against NY Congestion Pricing

We are committed to making our community safe. That’s why we've passed laws to crack down on auto theft and are working to get fentanyl off our streets.

Keeping our community safe

Today, the 38th District Democrats released a digital ad highlighting how New Jersey Republicans like Micheline Attieh, Gail Horton, and Barry Wilkes are working to pass new Texas-style abortion bans in New Jersey.

LD38 Democrats Release First Campaign Ad of 2023

“Representative Van Drew has made a career out of political extremism and pledged his 'undying support' for President Trump while ignoring the needs of his constituents. Van Drew supported President Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election, ignoring the will of New Jersey voters and leading to an armed insurrection on the US Capitol... Wilkes must defend his choice to fundraise with him.”

Statement on Barry Wilkes Fundraiser with Rep. Jeff Van Drew

Lisa, and Chris are dedicated to keeping our communities and schools safe from gun violence through commonsense ideas like criminal background checks and red flag laws, and they have enacted the most comprehensive gun control laws in the country.

Combating gun violence

“Bergen County commuters and families rely on their cars every day to get to work, school, and social activities,” said Senator Lagana. “I was proud to write and pass this law so my constituents don’t have to worry if their car will be available the next time they need it.”

Senator Lagana Successfully Fights to Lower Crime in Bergen County

“We are deeply appalled by the horrifying acts of violence committed by Hamas terrorists during Shabbat and the Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah. The attacks on civilian lives, many of whom are women and children, are disturbing."

Lagana, Swain, Tully Statement on Terrorist Attacks in Israel

"Today, the 38th District Democrats released a new digital ad – “Neighbors.” The ad, which begins streaming on connected TV platforms today, highlights their work combating gun violence, supporting New Jersey’s public schools, and cutting property taxes."

Lagana, Swain & Tully Release New Digital Ad on Gun Safety & Community Values

"A woman's right to her own reproductive health care is a top concern for many of my constituents,” said Assemblywoman Swain. “Republicans think the government should dictate what a woman can and can’t do with her body, but I’ll always fight for women’s right to make her own health care decisions.”

Joe Lagana, Lisa Swain, and Chris Tully Endorsed by the Planned Parenthood Action Fund of New Jersey

“Tonight, our Democratic neighbors in LD38 sent a clear message: they want leaders who will bring us together, not tear us apart. They want leaders who have a record of delivering results. Most importantly they want the team that can win, has won, and will win to ensure this district stays blue in November. We proudly accept the Democratic nomination in District 38 and have already started working to keep extreme Republicans out of District 38 come November.”

Today the LD38 Democrats, Lisa Swain and Chris Tully issued a strong statement in response to fundamental freedoms being stripped away. “All across the country, reproductive freedoms are under fire.
LD38 Democrats: Hands Off Our Reproductive Freedom

We're are fighting to help New Jersey seniors afford to stay & retire in the same communities where they raised their families.
